Is the Left being hypocritical about Trump's alleged "s***hole" comment? All this controversy reminds me of the time Michelle Obama insinuated the US was a s***hole. And unlike Trump, we have video of her disrespectful comment.
By now you've probably heard that yesterday President Trump proclaimed countries like Haiti and El Salvador are "s***hole" nations. CNN gave the news non-stop coverage the moment the story broke. In fact, CNN was so disgusted by the news that they repeated the words "s***hole" over and over again as frequently as they could in an effort to display their journalistic integrity.
If what we're hearing is accurate, this was an extremely rude and insensitive comment for the President to make in a formal setting. But did you know this isn't the first time Trump was extremely disrespectful to the people of Haiti? It's true.
Back in January of 2015 a group of Haitian activists gathered at Trump Tower in NYC to protest against the Donald. They were upset at the time because they believed Donald Trump used his organization to rob them of "billions of dollars". They protested again in May of 2015 for the same reason. They claim the Trump Foundation collected millions of dollars in donations after the massive 2010 Haiti earthquake to rebuild the country, but the money was wasted on lavish expenses like building a luxury hotel (that the people of Haiti couldn't even afford to stay in). And, according to reports, tens of millions in taxpayer funds were wasted on building a clothing factory for a company that previously donated to Trump's private charity.
If this is all correct, it would mean that Trump exploited a natural disaster to benefit himself and his political donors! Can you believe that?! That's textbook cronyism! And you thought calling Haiti a "s***hole" was bad?! Trump not only insulted Haiti, he robbed them of a fortune in funds during a time when they were more vulnerable and needy than any other time in recent history! No wonder the people of Haiti protested at Trump Tower!
Wait... No, I'm sorry... This is so embarrassing. I'm now being told that I got the facts wrong in the report I just shared with all of you. Apparently it wasn't Trump's private charity, it was Bill and Hillary Clinton who took money from the people of Haiti. And it looks like it wasn't Trump Tower, but the headquarters for the Clinton Foundation, where Haitians protested in 2015. Gosh, this is so humiliating - I guess I was just confused, folks. My mistake, I was incorrectly informed that Trump had robbed the nation of Haiti blind so he could build a sweatshop for his friend's company but it turns out that was just the Clintons. I know this all might sound pretty bad, but in the Clinton's defense, it's not like they called Haiti a bad name. That would be much worse! Right? Right. Of course. Words hurt. Yes, it's true. Obviously saying a mean word is much worse than stealing billions of dollars from earthquake victims in a third world country right after a natural disaster that turned into an international tragedy. That's why CNN gave Trump's "s***hole" comment non-stop media coverage the second the news broke while they gave little to no acknowledgement of the Haiti-earthquake charity scandal the Clinton Foundation was involved in from 2010-2015.
